Reports of a huge smoke coming from the Middelburg Mall Nandos side were received on the Traffic Alert group this evening .

According to responders on the scene one of the power boxes in the transformers exploded .

The smoke affected Shoprite and Panarottis .

Five employees were treated on site for smoke inhalation.

The Fire department was on scene to put out the smoke .

It is unclear at this stage what led to the power box exploding
