Burglars target two Middelburg homes in early morning invasions

A burglar was caught prowling a Gholfsig property in the early morning hours today.

The AD Keet Street home’s security cameras caught the burglar snooping around the home’s entertainment area around 00:50 this morning.

In the footage, he can be seen clutching a kettle, which the homeowner confirmed missing.

The burglar also stole coffee and sugar apart from the kettle.

The burglar gained entry into the yard by scaling an boundary wall.

He lifted the electric fencing and squeezed through.

Luckily, no fence damage was reported, with the homeowner simply readjusting the fencing back into place.

Mid Alarms arrived on the scene just five minutes after the alarm was sounded.

Unfortunately, the burglar had already disappeared.

Just 10 minutes before the Gholfsig burglary, around 00:40, Mid Alarms responded to another burglary in progress in Vos Street.

The burglar clambered over the property’s gate to gain entry.

The homeowner, who was watching the prowler’s every move on CCTV camera, alerted Mid Alarms and the man was caught.

He was removed from the property by police after the homeowner confirmed that nothing had been damaged or stolen during the attempt.
