Department of Home Affairs extends festive working hours

To ease festive-season demand, Home Affairs will operate until 18:00 at selected offices processing Smart ID Cards and passports

The Department of Home Affairs has announced extended operating hours to support increased travel needs during the festive season. This initiative ensures that travellers can obtain the necessary travel documents in time to spend cherished moments with family and friends.

Extended operating hours will be in effect from 08 December to 19 December 2025, and again from 05 January to 16 January 2026.

During these periods, Home Affairs offices that are equipped to process Smart ID Cards and Passports will close at 18:00, instead of the usual 16:00.
