House robbery reported at a Vaalbank plot, cattle slaughtered
Six armed men ransacked a Vaalbank home on the R35, restraining residents before allegedly stealing valuables and slaughtering three cows.
There was a house robbery reported on Tuesday night around 20:30 at a Vaalbank plot along the R35.
It is reported that a firearm was used in the robbery involving a group of six men.
The victim alleged that he heard a dog barking outside and went to have a look, when out of nowhere he was surrounded by the group of men who claimed they were lost.
It is said that one of them allegedly took out a firearm, while others pulled out knives. The suspects allegedly used a rope to tie up the victim, and went inside to tie up the other people who were in the house.
All the victims were then taken to a container where a blanket was used to cover them.
One of the victims allegedly peeped through the blanket and saw the suspects searching around the house.
It was reported that the suspects made off with a Huawei cellphone, an air rifle, clothes, and a driver’s licence.
When the victims untied themselves the following morning at around 04:30, they noticed three cows, a female Bonsmara, and a male and female Brahman, had been slaughtered.
The loss is estimated at around R80 000.
The police have launched an investigation and opened a case of robbery, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
