Several areas in Middelburg and Mhluzi are experiencing water supply interruptions and low water pressure following a mechanical breakdown at the Vaalbank Water Treatment Works pump station.

Affected areas include Middelburg Extension 18, Extension 33, Extension 49, Groenkol, Mineralia, Aerorand, and parts of Mhluzi. The breakdown has also impacted reservoir levels supplying surrounding areas such as Nasaret and Rockdale.

Municipal repair teams are currently on site working to resolve the issue.

According to the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, water supply is expected to be restored within approximately 24 hours, allowing sufficient time for reservoir levels to recover once repairs are completed.

The municipality said regular updates will be provided as repair work continues, and they have urged residents to use water sparingly during this period.
