Widespread water outage expected in Middelburg tomorrow

The Steve Tshwete Local Municipality has issued a notice warning residents of a major planned water interruption that will affect most parts of Middelburg on Wednesday, February 4.

Water supply will be shut down from 11:00 until 23:00 tomorrow (February 4) to allow for critical refurbishment work at the Vaalbank Water Treatment Works pump station.

According to the municipality, the following areas will be affected: Middelburg CBD, Extension 18, Aerorand, Extension 11, Mineralia, Vaalbank, Industrial Area, Gholfsig, Clubville, Uitkyk, Mhluzi, Tokologo, Newtown, Kanonkop, Dennesig, Eastdene, Hlalamnandi, Rondebosch, Nasaret, Extension 24, Rockdale and surrounding areas.

Residents are strongly advised to store sufficient water ahead of the interruption to ensure they have enough for household use throughout the day.

The municipality also cautioned that system recovery may be delayed once water is restored, meaning some areas could experience low pressure or prolonged outages beyond the scheduled restoration time.
