STLM confirms death of man during alleged cable theft

A man has been electrocuted while allegedly stealing electrical cables, the municipality says.

In a statement, the municipality confirmed that the man died on the scene.

According to the municipality, the deceased was part of a group that targeted a mini-substation in Melato Street.

The other suspects fled the scene immediately.

The matter is under police investigation.
