Pedestrian killed and another seriously injured in separate Middelburg incidents

Two separate pedestrian accidents in Middelburg over the past few days have left one man dead and another seriously injured.

One pedestrian has died, and another sustained serious injuries in two separate incidents.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a man reportedly lost his balance and fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Sapphire Street. He was declared dead at the scene.

In a separate incident last night, a pedestrian suffered a serious leg injury after ending up in front of a vehicle in Walter Sisulu Street, near the Protea Street turn-off.

It is understood that the elderly man had been standing at the side of the road before allegedly stepping into the path of an approaching vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to King Nyabela Hospital for further medical treatment.

The occupants of the vehicle were not injured in the incident.
