March to March in full swing with hundreds joining
Hundreds descend on CBD for Middelburg March to March chapter.
Hundreds of protestors brought the CBD to a standstill.
It was confirmed yesterday by SAPS that the planned march had been approved.
Traffic services and the police are out in full force with Public Order Policing Commander Jack Scholtz welcoming such a crowd.
Sticks and knobkieries pierced the sky in Van Blerk Square, where the crowd was urged to make their voices heard peacefully.
Organisers reminded protestors that the gathering was not to target individuals, but to target lacks laws around immigration.
As the march progresses through the CBD, its obvious that police are trying to avoid fringe groupings, with regular dead stops along the route, to ensure the crowd remains controlled.
The march is set to continue until 16:00 through various main streets, so it’s better to navigate around them.
