N11 Kranspoort Pass truck crash causes oil spill

Emergency services attend to an injured person following the N11 accident between Middelburg and Groblersdal.

Motorists are facing delays on the N11 at the bottom of the Kranspoort Pass after a truck overturned between 10:00 and 11:00 today (August 21).

The cause of the truck overturning is not known at present.

According to local traffic alert groups, the truck overturned across the roadway, spilling a significant amount of oil onto the road.

Emergency crews dispatched

One person is reported to have sustained injuries in the incident, and emergency services have been dispatched to the scene to assist and secure the area.

Traffic restrictions expected

Motorists travelling between Middelburg and Groblersdal are urged to reduce their speed and approach the scene with extreme caution. Lane closures or traffic restrictions may be implemented while emergency crews attend to the crash, clear the overturned truck and deal with the oil spill.

Motorists should be prepared for possible delays and should not attempt to pass through the affected area at high speed.

The N11 through the Kranspoort Pass is a busy route between Middelburg and Groblersdal, and the steep, winding section requires extra care, particularly when an accident obstructs the roadway.
