Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation David Mahlobo will deliver the keynote address today (September 10) at the AWSISA Africa & Global South Water and Sanitation Mpumalanga Dialogue at the Banquet Hall in Middelburg.

The event brings together government leaders, local councils and water sector experts to tackle the province’s urgent water shortages, infrastructure gaps and rapid urban growth.

Mahlobo is expected to outline national priorities for water security while gathering local feedback to help shape national policy.

Building momentum for national dialogue

The roundtable is part of a series of regional meetings building up to the main dialogue, set to take place in Durban in November. The main goal of the event is to move beyond talk and agree on practical, lasting solutions for reliable water and sanitation across local communities.

Also attending today’s dialogue are MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Speedy Mashilo and Steve Tshwete Local Municipality Mayor Mhlonishwa Masilela.
