Joshua attended Mansfield High in Durban and then went on to become a mechanical engineer. He decided to move to Johannesburg in 1953 as he had heard that the ‘streets were paved with gold.’
“I moved to Glen Austin A/H to be with my daughter Pamela who has 14 horses and owns the Glen Austin Stables.”

The father of three has run several different businesses over the years, one of them being Dorron Engineering which specialised in the manufacture of scales, instruments, and automotive components in Pretoria.

His advice to the young generation was to find a good partner, and take care of their family as they would be there for you in your old age. “The most important thing is to be successful in business. You need to work really hard and make as much money as possible as without money you will be lost.

“Having your own financial resources is essential so that you do not become a burden on your family and can continue to do the things that make you happy.”

He concluded that age was unimportant. “It is your attitude towards those around you that makes the difference. Have fun, laugh a lot, enjoy your life and your friends.”
