Watch: Tanker explosion on N1 in Johannesburg leaves 1 injured

A person has been taken to hospital after a tanker carrying an unconfirmed substance exploded on the N1 near William Nicol Drive.

Emer-G-Med and multiple emergency services agencies responded to a collision involving a tanker on the N1 near William Nicol Drive earlier today.

“On arrival on scene, the tanker carrying an unconfirmed substance had exploded and was engulfed in flames,” says Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.

    “One person was treated for moderate injuries and taken by Emer-G-Med ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” he adds.

    This is the second tanker explosion in the past two months in Gauteng, with the Christmas Eve Boksburg explosion death toll at a staggering 41 people.
