Justice Mohale, Media Relations Manager of Rand Water, said in a statement that the transformer is owned by Johannesburg City Power and is part of the electricity facility supplying power to the Eikenhof Pumping Station.
“Technicians from Rand Water and City Power are on site at the Pumping Station. Further information will be made available in the following hours.”
“Inside the substation there is oil that is burning currently so it is not safe for our technicians to go inside. Once they have been given the green light we will be able to determine the cause of the fire,” Mangena said.
