Summerhill Colleges six learners brainstorm innovative ideas to win the Vega VIBE.

Six learners from Summerhill College have recently emerged as champions in the IIE-Vega Interschool Brand Experience (VIBE) on April 13.

The young geniuses, including Warren Olifant, Rodney Eymann, Musenga Mfula, Mandlenkosi Phakathi, Ofentse Phaladi, and Vuyile Nkomo, were allowed to showcase their innovative ideas on brand-building and creative thinking.

From brainstorming sessions to crafting real-life brand campaigns that tell a story, these stars have certainly set the standard for the future of branding, design, and business.

High school learners from different parts of South Africa were recently challenged to develop a full brand campaign and real-life brand challenge when Vega invited them to its campuses in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, and Cape Town to participate in the Vega VIBE.

The learners, composed of six individuals per team, were tasked to work on a brand brief from Craig Wilko’s brand called ‘Brand The Six Pack Masculine Virtues’ — an online course and workbook designed to inspire positive masculinity among young men.

Each team was required to research the brand, identify and profile the relevant target market, create a campaign concept, and communication strategy and launch a campaign.

With their brilliant ideas and strategic approach, the Summerhill team emerged as the regional winner, beating 14 other teams from other schools such as Athlone Girls’ High School, Reddford House Hills, Jeppe Girls’ High School, Redhill College, Fourways High School, Braynston High School, Crawford International Lonehill, and Curro Midrand Sagewood.

Craig Wilkinson, the owner of the Craig Wilko brand, bestselling South African author, and award-winning social entrepreneur, expressed his admiration for the IIE Vega team and praised their passion and professionalism.

IIE-Vega has always been committed to providing learners with hands-on career guidance and insights into degrees in design, brand, and business. Through a series of initiatives designed to expose them to the world of brand building, learners across the country benefit from an enriched form of learning that extends beyond the classroom.

Summerhill School is extremely proud of its six learners who have showcased their brilliance and secured their spot as the champions of the IIE-Vega Interschool Brand Experience.
