#HaveYourSay: Community opinion on breaking bad habits

The Midrand Reporter asked residents what they thought about the difficulties of not being able to stop bad habits.

AMO MORAKILE: It’s easy to quit but once those internal actors such a stress come to play, people tend to relapse and go back to their old habits.
NOMSA MASANGANA: Having to break a habit requires hard work and dedication, which in most cases is the hardest thing to do even when you no longer want to continue with the habit.
DYLAN BEDJA: If you comfortable with what you doing regardless of the impact it has on your life, then people should continue with it because no one can change a person if they not ready.
CHRISTIAN HIRSCH: If your health is at risk, you should be more motivated to stop, but it all depends on the individual’s personality and character.
ZAMOKUHLE NYEMBE: It is very difficult to break a habit that has been developed over a long period of time, but it’s possible to change when one is dedicated.
BRENTON PATHER: I think if a habit has a negative impact on a person’s life, a consultation with others who have gone through the same thing might help.
JOHANNES HITEKE: A habit is a coping mechanism, therefore, it’s hard to go on with the day to day activities without the habit, which makes it hard to stop.
