The theme of the dance was inspired by the movie Avatar.
The hall was transformed too resemble the colourful and exotic fantasy planet on which Avatar is set.
The Grade 11 matric dance committee spent days hand painting murals and decorations like flowers and dragons.
Matric dance committee member, Keely Knutton said, “When the night arrived the matrics walked into the room and theirs eyes lit up at the sight before them. The set of Avatar was laid out by means of beautiful decorations, a forest of trees and special lighting that the MDC, parents and teachers had created for them. The main piece was a four meter high tree made from man made materials that had fairy lights draped over it to resemble the magnificent tree of life.”
