A smelly drive

MIDRAND - A pungent sewage odour has got at least one Midrand motorist blocking her nose on Allandale Road, everyday.

The motorist, who did not wish to be named, said the smell has been present in the mornings and late afternoons for the past year in the dip on Allandale Road, between Harry Galaun Drive and Greig Street. Two of @lookmidrand’s followers on Twitter also complained about it, while one said the odour had not been noticed for over a week.

Joburg Water spokesperson Millicent Kabwe said, “The foul sewage smell was resolved more than three weeks ago and it was caused by a sewer line that was not functioning properly.”

Kabwe said the odour should have disappeared, and she urged residents to report any issues.
