Rabie Ridge residents can resolve electricity account queries, billing disputes, and debt relief applications at a local service delivery initiative on October 22.
City Power, in collaboration with the City of Johannesburg’s Social Development and Revenue Shared Services, will host the ward-by-ward programme at Rabie Ridge Hall from 09:00 to 15:00.

City Power community engagement officer Penelope Mosana said the entity’s mobile office trailer will be stationed at the hall to assist residents with logging queries, meter and consumption issues, and general account administration.
Residents registering for the Expanded Social Package (ESP) or applying for debt relief must bring their identity documents, City Power meter numbers, proof of income, proof of residence, their latest three months’ bank statements, and their City of Johannesburg rates and taxes accounts. Sassa beneficiaries must also provide proof of their social grant.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by City Power to address electricity-related concerns and provide updates on efforts to improve power supply.
It follows a visit to Rabie Ridge on October 14 by Johannesburg Executive Mayor Dada Morero, who engaged with residents regarding electricity concerns and reiterated the city’s commitment to improving service delivery.
Morero called on residents to take responsibility for their electricity consumption and ensure their connections are properly registered. He emphasised that the city will continue taking action against illegal connections to transformers and the broader electricity network.

Acknowledging complaints about high electricity bills, Morero said cases involving unusually high charges must be investigated and called on City Power officials to hold a separate session explaining electricity tariffs and billing to consumers.
Community leader Shaida Sutton previously stated that the area experiences frequent power outages due to illegal connections and non-payment by some households.
