Resident robbed after being asked for diesel
PRESIDENT PARK - Six suspects stole a plasma television and three cellphones from a house on Republic Road in President Park at about 7pm on 8 October.

Midrand police communication officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “According to the complainant, unknown people knocked at the door pretending to look for diesel. The complainant unlocked the security gate and he went out to speak to them.
“To the complainant’s surprise the suspects pushed him back into the house and took him to the bathroom and pointed a firearm at him. The suspects demanded R150 000 and laptops, which they did not receive.”
She said the complainant sustained injuries after he was beaten by a suspect using a firearm.
“The complainant managed to escape the scene and the suspects fired two shots at him while he was running away, but they missed him,” said Tlamela.
No arrests have been made but police were investigating the case and Tlamela said they hoped to bring the suspects to book.
Tlamela provided tips to prevent house robberies. She said, “When you hear a noise outside, please don’t go out, rather call the sector vehicle for assistance.”
She said it was important not to resist attackers, especially if they have a weapon. “Give up and obey the instructions of the attacker with no questions asked and move away if possible. Don’t try to be a hero because you can be killed,” said Tlamela.
