Mix FM’s Roxy Blows, Abigail Milosevich, David Watts, Ashley Harris, Mayihlome Klaas, Hein Kaiser, Chelsea Summer, Sanny Deers, Lebogang Thubakgule, and Lions Club’s Cliff Hockings attended the event. The team set up a Christmas tree and gifts for the school staff and children. Pupils also received a gift pack filled with chips, sweets and a cool drink.
Community and charity events manager at Mix FM, Ashley Harris said, “We gave the little ones cakes to take home; the cakes were bought from the Lions Club in Midrand. Nokuphila School and the Lions Club are non-profit organisations, and they have both benefited from the initiative by Mix FM.”
Harris added that the Lions Club raised R16 300 from the cakes that they sold to Mix FM.
Nokuphila School principal Michelle Peters said the children were thrilled to receive the cakes. “For most of our children it’s not a given that they will get presents at Christmas as they come from less privileged homes. So it was a real treat. We are grateful to Mix FM.”
Cliff Hockings of the Lions Club said Mix FM had done something amazing. “Mix FM has lit the faces of young children by giving them so many delicious cakes. On behalf of Lions Club we want to send a huge thank you to the radio station.”
Mix FM is a community radio station that broadcasts from Carlswald Deco Centre in Midrand.
