Police fight crime in schools

MIDRAND - Midrand police participated in a crime awareness course for Blue Hills College.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “Midrand police would like to start the year with a good spirit of fighting crime jointly with its community at large.”

She said recently drug and alcohol abuse has become an issue in schools, as well as students carrying weapons. “Midrand police is implementing a drugs awareness programme and is fighting crime associated with drugs and alcohol abuse,” said Tlamela.

Midrand police visited Blue Hills College and educated the pupils about the dangers and consequences of using drugs and of alcohol abuse. “This [may] lead to domestic violence and other abuse related cases,” she said.
