Police open attempted murder case against Chana
MIDRAND - Acting Gauteng provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Lesetja Mothiba said the police have a solid case of attempted murder against hip-hop artist Khuli Chana.
In a statement released on 5 February Mothiba said, “The investigation into Khuli Chana’s case has been finalised. Both dockets, attempted murder charges against members of the police service and another case of attempted murder against Khuli Chana are at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
In January Chana slapped police with a R2.7 million lawsuit. He said he was suing for medical expenses, future loss of income and car repairs.
Chana was shot and wounded by police on 28 October at a petrol station in Midrand on the N1, in what police claim was a case of mistaken identity. However, police allege that Chana attempted to run over officers when he was apprehended, and police claim they have evidence to prove it.
