The Grade 7 pupils took part in a Kids’ Lit Quiz on 10 February, with the Grade 6 team taking second place.
The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an annual literature competition that tests the literary skills of children aged between 10 and 13.
The school’s media centre spokesperson Gill van der Top said, “The national finals took place in Cape Town on 15 February where the winning teams from around South Africa contested the final to see who will represent South Africa at the World Finals in Cornwall, England later this year.”
St Johns in Houghton won the finals and will represent South Africa in England. Christ Church took fourth place in the competition.
Countries that will participate in the competition include Australia, Canada and New Zealand, among others.
