Two fraudsters arrested at lifestyle centre

Men arrested for dealing in illegal foreign currency.

MIDRAND police Sector 2 commanders arrested two men for dealing in illegal foreign currency and for being in possession of suspected stolen cash and bank cards at 7.30pm on 6 March.

Midrand police social crime prevention co-ordinator Constable Thari Maelane said the sector commander received a complaint from a bank at Carlswald Lifestyle shopping centre. According to the complainant, two suspicious men were spotted in a red Audi A3 at the centre.

Midrand police went to the centre, found the car and asked to search the men.

“The police discovered foreign currency, cash, bank cards and burglary implements in the car. The suspects admitted that they defrauded people, followed people from the bank, and committed armed robbery. The suspects were immediately arrested and detained in a Midrand police cell,” said Maelane.
