Police arrest man for taking inappropriate pictures of women
IVORY PARK - Ivory Park police said a man was arrested on 7 May for taking inappropriate pictures of women.
The station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “The 34-year-old suspect allegedly took revealing photos of unsuspecting women in Ivory Park extension 2. The victims were queuing for taxis at the taxi rank when the suspect took the photos.
“The suspect started taking these pictures when he realised that some women do not wear underwear to and from work. He took photos of women in mini-skirts and very short dresses and at times he recorded the incident on video, using his cellphone,” she said.
“A woman who was also waiting to board a taxi noticed what he was doing after he had taken photos underneath her skirt and left. The woman reported the matter to the queue marshal who notified the police.”
She said the suspect had been arrested and was being held at Ivory Park police station. His phone was also taken for further investigations. He will appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court on a sexual offences charge.
