Laugh out loud

PAULSHOF - The Friends of Rietfontein Nature Reserve brought the community together for a laugh.

This was at its first laughter yoga session at the reserve. The gathering was led by laughter yoga instructor, Ajit Bhagattjee who ran through activities such as group laughter and traditional yoga breathing exercises to get all those participating in good spirit.

Friends of Rietfontein representative, Margo Bandsa said, “The Rietfontein Nature reserve is one of the few unexplored and tranquil green spaces in Johannesburg. “Friends of Rietfontein Nature Reserve holds monthly activities to encourage residents from the surrounding areas to visit the reserve by experiencing it in a totally different way.

“As a first of its kind in the reserve, we welcomed attendees who travelled from Honeydew for the early morning health activity. Laughter in the park is an invigorating and relaxing open air experience, an alternative de-stressing therapy and fun way to survive in our concrete jungle.”

Member of the Sunninghill Ratepayers Association, Kerry Mawson said, “Laughter yoga was an awesome event as it brought us closer to nature. It helped us appreciate the birds and wildlife in the nature reserve.”

Baghattjee hoped that more people would take part in the laughter sessions, not only as a way to de-stress, but also to give the nature reserve much needed exposure.
