MIDRAND - A radio station has reported that five women were held against their will by a woman in Midrand.

Midrand Reporter has learned that this case was reported in 2009 and the accused woman appeared in court last week but the case was postponed as no interpreter was present.

The accused will appear in Midrand Magistrates Court on 4 June.

Midrand police could not confirm the reports.

PowerFM reported that five women were ‘lured’ to South Africa by a woman who claimed to have jobs for them at her hair salons in Midrand.

It was reported the women were kept as slaves, forced to work seven days a week for low wages, and their travel documents were taken away from them.

It was said matter was at the Midrand Magistrate’s Court and that the suspect denied the allegations.

Last week, Midrand Reporter uncovered the story of three women held against their will by two men, who forced them to take drugs and perform sexual favours for clients in Halfway Gardens.
