Eight police impersonators hijack two vehicles
MIDRAND - Police are on the lookout for eight suspects who impersonated police officers and hijacked a truck on 14th Road in Noordwyk on 19 June at 7pm.

Midrand police communications officer, Constable Matome Tlamela said the truck was carrying computers, printers, speed points, monitors and medical goods.
She said the eight suspects were dressed in police uniform.
“According to the complainant, the suspects stopped the truck along 14th Road,” said Tlamela. “The driver and passengers were ordered to get out of the truck and forced to get into a white VW Caddy with an unknown registration number. The suspects drove away with the victims.”
She said the suspects hijacked another vehicle belonging to a security company and used that vehicle as an escort vehicle. Tlamela said the suspects took the security officers’ firearms.
She said the suspects used three cars – the white Caddy, a white BMW and a white Mercedes Benz with unknown registration numbers.
Tlamela added that the hijacked truck was recovered in Chloorkop, Midrand without the goods, and the escort vehicle was found in Noodwyk.
“No one has been arrested yet and the police are busy with the investigations,” she said.
Anyone with the information regarding the case should call Midrand police.
