Police want drug syndicate suspects

MIDRAND - Police are on the lookout for two women for questioning with regard to a robbery on 28 April.

Midrand police communications officer, Constable Matome Tlamela said the incident took place at the Protea Hotel in Midrand, and Midrand police had ascertained photographs of the suspects from camera footage.

Tlamela said, “The suspects robbed a complainant and his brother of cash and property at an estimated value of R78 000. This included cellphones, clothing, laptops and dollars after they drugged them. The police are suspecting that there is a syndicate that is operating all over Gauteng for these theft cases where people are getting drugged and suspects are taking their belongings.”

Tlamela added that seven women had already been arrested for such cases but the same crime was recurring.

She said any community members with information on the suspects’ whereabouts should call Midrand police’s Warrant Officer Jackson Mashiane.
