Thieves caught after robbing man

MIDRAND - Two suspects, aged 25 and 26, were arrested on Le Roux Avenue for common robbery on 14 June at 11.40am.

Midrand police communication officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The two suspects were arrested… after they robbed a member of the public of his bank card at an ATM at the BP Garage on Le Roux [Avenue].”

She said according to the complainant, he had just finished transferring money at the ATM when he was approached by an unknown man who told him that he did not finish the transaction.

“The suspect told him to insert his bank card again in the ATM and put in the pin code, which he did.”

She said while the complainant was waiting for his bank card, a second suspect pulled the card out of the ATM and left.

“The complainant reported the matter to the police,” said Tlamela. They responded promptly and noticed the suspects on Le Roux Avenue and gave a chase until they caught them, said Tlamela.

She said the police found the complainant’s bank card and both suspects are facing charges of common robbery.
