Midrand police arrest three suspects

MIDRAND - Midrand police arrested three suspects while patrolling at Sanridge Square at 11am on 15 July.

Police said the men acted suspiciously and they kept trying to reverse their vehicle out of a parking bay. Police noticed this and blocked the suspects’ vehicle with their patrol car. When asked what they were doing, the suspects said they were trying to park and go shopping. Police told the suspects to step out of the vehicle for a search.

Police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said, “After searching the suspects nothing illegal was found on them, police searched the vehicle and found a firearm under the back seat.”

Police also noted that the vehicle had false number plates.

“The vehicle was reported as stolen in Kempton Park,” he said.

Police are investigating to ascertain if the suspects could be linked to recent robberies at Sanridge Square where people have been robbed after leaving the bank.
