Man arrested for pointing a firearm at security guard

MIDRAND - On 27 JULY Midrand police arrested a 35-year-old man for pointing a firearm at a security guard and intimidating him.

Police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said the incident took place at Value Fair complex. She said, “According to the complainant he was on duty at the time of the incident. He saw a man using an exit he was not authorised to use.”

The complainant approached the suspect and asked him not to use that exit. The suspect became angry and pulled out a firearm which he pointed at the security guard while he forced his way through. Police were called to the complex and the man was immediately arrested.

“The suspect will appear at Midrand Magistrate’s court facing the charges of pointing a firearm at someone and intimidation.
