Two arrested, stolen goods recovered

AUSTIN VIEW - Gauteng 10111 spokesperson Captain Pinky Tsinyane said two suspects were arrested on 31 July for possession of stolen property.

She said, “Benoni Flying Squad, Pretoria K9 with the help of tracker members made the arrest. Police were following information which led them to Austin View in Midrand.”

It is alleged that a truck loaded with laptops was hijacked on Allandale towards Austin View by a silver Corsa bakkie and a white BMW vehicle. The suspects escorted the truck up to one of the houses and unloaded laptops. 

“The information police received stated that the truck was from Johannesburg headed to an unknown delivery place when the incident happened.”

Captain Tsinyane addded that, “At the scene, police recovered 358 laptops, three firearms which were two pistols and a rifle, and one of Metro Police uniforms. Four motor vehicles, a silver Corsa bakkie that was used to commit crimes, a white BMW, white Hyundai panel van and a green Toyota Camry with case numbers were confiscated by police.”

Police are still searching for the hijacked truck. Investigations are continuing.

The two suspects aged 35 and 40 will appear at Tembisa Magistrate court soon on charges of poessession of unlicenced firearm, stolen property and possession of stolen motor vehicles and hijacking.
