Son murdered, submerged in water, bag over his head

MIDRAND - Constable Rophny Letsoalo and a Halfway House resident found the resident's son dead, submerged in water and a plastic bag over his head in the bathroom of his house.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela explained the resident, an elderly man, approached Letsoalo while he was on duty on 3 September to ask him to accompany him to his house in a complex on 5th Road.

The man was concerned as his son’s car had been found burnt in Wynberg and he was not answering his cell phone.

Tlamela said when the man and Letsoalo arrived at the property, the house’s doors and windows were locked. They then used a remote to gain access through the garage.

She said after entering the home, they found the home had been ransacked and a few valuable items, such as the television and music system, were missing.

Tlamela said that in the bathroom they found the body of the son, with a plastic bag over his head and he was partially submerged in water. His legs, hands and neck were tied up. Emergency Medical Services was called and the victim was declared dead.

A case of murder and robbery was opened.

No arrests have been made yet however Tlamela said the police are investigating and hope to bring the perpetrators to book.
