Early on the morning of 29 September, Rand Water (@Rand_Water) tweeted, “Water supply to Midrand should be gradually restored during the course of the day. #WaterShortage #Rand_Water.”
This is in accordance with Johannesburg Water’s promise to restore water in Midrand by this date.
“There is a plan put in place by Rand Water indicating the possibility of areas having water by Monday,” said their spokesperson Millicent Kabwe.
Rand Water also claimed that Nomvula Mokonyane would address the water issues currently plaguing Gauteng on the same day. They tweeted, “Minister of Water and Sanitation and Rand Water to address media at 2.30pm on Gauteng water shortages.”
