Domestic workers held at gunpoint

MIDRAND - Two domestic workers were awoken by two armed men in the early hours of the morning at an estate in Midrand.

Midrand police communications office Constable Matome Tlamela, said according to the victims, the suspects wore pantyhose’s over their faces, and gloves. She said the two were instructed to wake up the owners of the house.

Tlamela said the owners allegedly refused to open the door after one of the domestic workers knocked on their bedroom door. The suspects then instructed one of the domestic workers to fetch some goods for them from one of the rooms in the house.

Tlamela said when the domestic worker returned, the suspects fled with cellphones. Tlamela said a case of house robbery has been opened and a full investigation is underway.
