Former teacher speaks about women empowerment

MIDRAND - A former Midrand High School teacher, Edzai Zvobwo was one of the speakers at the Groupe Speciale Mobile Association Mobile 360 Connected Women Conference in North America.

The event held in Atlanta Georgia themed ‘Accelerating the Female Mobile Economy’ is an annual event focusing on female empowerment. Zvobwo, the founder of Maths Genius, a Maths dictionary which helps pupils to have a better understanding of Maths, told attendees about the importance of promoting women empowerment. He said, “South Africa needs to step up women empowerment for greater development to be achieved.”

He explained in South Africa, and Africa, there are boys and girls who have never been exposed to technology. It is important to teach them all they need to know. “I hope we can find solutions on how to close the gender gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not. We need to demystify certain sectors of industry are for a select few.

Zvobwo advocates for sustainable, attainable and transformative growth strategies to ensure access and retention of women in the science and technology careers, specifically within the telecommunications industry.
