Midrand High School salutes their new SRC members

MIDRAND - The pupils of Midrand High School have entrusted this responsibility to a group of Grade 11 pupils including Mpho Mothibinyana, Palesa Machabela, Luthando Qwabe, Siphe Dube, Monica Sithole, Philemon Molokome, Darika Harichandra, Tshidiso Vatsha, Ditebogo Lebea, Nyiko Makhubela, Babongile Mahlangu, Dylan Ruiters, Tshepo Keele, Tebogo Radikeledi, Michaela Damons, Chelsea McDonald, Darren Bergsteedt and Reabetwe Mokgoto.

On 24 October, the school held a special assembly to honour the select group elected by their peers to be in the council of learners for next year.

The Representative Council of Learners serves an important role in a school by acting as an intermediary between pupils and the authority figures in a school.

“These pupils have pledged to lead by example and to put the interests of the school and their fellow pupils above their own,” said the school’s media liaison officer, Thomas Stroud.

According to Stroud, the council plays an active role in welcoming the new Grade 8 pupils to the school and helping them adjust to high school life.

“They also plan and organise several activities throughout the year,” he said.

“One of the most important roles of the council is to communicate the needs of the school to the pupils and to address pupils’ issues with the staff.”
