Three men sentenced to 12 years imprisonment

MIDRAND - Midrand Police Station Commander Colonel Steven Moodley and the station's management were delighted with the sentences handed down to three suspects involved in a 2012 hijacking.

According to the station’s communications officer, Constable Matome Tlamela, Moodley commended the work done by Sergeant Makgoshing Mmanoko. “He is commended for his excellent investigative work in a carjacking case that happened at Suikerboss Street in Noordwyk on 1 May 2012,” Tlamela said.

Apparently the three suspects hijacked a vehicle at about 3.15pm on the day. The victim managed to call the police for assistance directly after they had stolen his BMW X5. The police responded quickly to the case and chased the criminals. They were eventually caught in Clayville at Olifantsfontein Road on the same day as the hijacking.

The men were subsequently sentenced to 12 years imprisonment each.
