Do not take law into your own hands

IVORY PARK - After the community beat up a 43-year-old Ivory Park man for killing his girlfriend, he is now in hospital

The man killed his girlfriend on 3 November.

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the suspect was assaulted by angry community members for the murder and for physically abusing the deceased. After the suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital, community members went to his house and burnt it down.

“The suspect is in hospital under police guard. He sustained serious injuries. Police would like to appeal to the Tswelopele community to not take the law into their own hands,” said Sekgobela.

“Please report crimes and suspected cases of abuse to the police. Assaulting a suspect is a criminal offence.”

The suspect will soon appear in court on a charge of murder.

To report criminal activities go to Ivory Park Police Station or contact Warrant Officer Sekgobela on 011 990 9600.
