Glen Austin pupils showcase their art

GLEN AUSTIN - Glen Austin High invited Midrand Reporter to an art exhibition to view artworks created by pupils.

Art teacher Berthold Moyo said he was proud of the pupils’ work. “I am impressed with the level of dedication and persistence the pupils have shown. They drew their pictures in June and painted them in November,” he said.

Moyo, an artist himself, said he hoped, for memory’s sake, the pupils keep their first artwork and not sell it.

Parent, Sophia Chetty, could not believe her son, Mikhail, had painted such a lovely picture. “I did not even know he was this good. Now I can invest in his interest knowing what he is capable of.”

Magda de Wet’s grandmother and namesake was happy to see her granddaughter’s work. “I cannot believe how good she is, she is a great painter,” she said.

Rebecca Capazario’s family was also present to have a look at her first painting. The family was impressed by her talent and what she achieved in such a short time.

School director, Shadi Laka was present to view the pupils’ work. “I am so proud of the commitment and talent the children have shown. They also have a great art teacher who has taught them a lot,” said Laka.
