Suspects wanted for murder of scrapyard owner

RABIE RIDGE - Police are looking for two men in connection with a murder that took place in August last year.

Investigating officer Warrant Officer Maphoko Mphahlele said the suspects killed a scrapyard owner in Austin View. “The suspects first tied up a scrapyard employee, then waited for the owner to arrive and they robbed him of his phone and killed him,” said Mphahlele.

Police said the family of the deceased sent a BBM message to the victim’s stolen phone and got a response from a person in possession of the phone. Mphahlele explained, “The family saved the profile photo of the person who responded to the message and sent it to police.”

The person in the photo is wanted for questioning regarding possession of stolen property.

Police are not yet certain whether the person in possession of the phone is one of the suspects or someone who bought the stolen phone.

Anyone with information relating to this case can contact Warrant Officer Maphoko Mphahlele.
