Six suspects rob man of R100 000

IVORY PARK - A man was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint of R100 000 at home on 15 March in Ivory Park Ext 13.

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the complainant was allegedly robbed by six male suspects and would like to urge residents not to keep large sums of money at home.

“The victim and his girlfriend were at home at the time of the robbery and heard the suspects ask the complainant’s landlord if the complainant was home. The landlord showed them the complainant’s room and three suspects entered the room and pointed firearms at the complainants.”

Sekgobela said that according to the complainant, the suspects demanded money and when the complainant said he does not have any, they assaulted him. The suspects finally got the complainant to show them where the money was and they stole R100 000 which was hidden under a pillow. The complainant told police that he had planned to use the money to buy a truck for his brother in Ivory Park, but the seller delayed to arrive.

No arrests have been made yet. Police are requesting anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
