Suspect arrested for possession of stolen goods

IVORY PARK - A woman was arrested on 3 April at Kaalfontein Ext. 2 for suspected stolen goods found in her possession that are linked to a hijacking.

According to Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgonela, some of the goods belong to a man who was hijacked in his BMW X5 in Daveyton at the end of March.

She added, “A laptop which was connected to GPS led police to the arrest of the suspect who claimed that the goods belonged to her boyfriend.”

Police also found an amplifier, two laptops, radio speakers and a tablet. The BMW was also later recovered on 3 April in Kempton Park. The suspect will soon appear at the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of stolen property.

Police are appealing to community members to stop buying stolen goods. Anyone found in possession of stolen goods will be arrested and charged for possession of stolen property.
