7 held at gunpoint at house in Noodwyk

MIDRAND - Seven people were held up at gunpoint during a house robbery in Noordwyk.

On 2 April, a man in a blue Volkswagen Polo was waiting for his brother outside his gate at around 8pm. As he waited, a silver Polo drove past.

The complainant said the car drove around the corner of Acacia Street, turned around and came back to where he was parked and stopped. The man told Midrand police that three men disembarked from the car, two of them with guns.

He said they forced him out of his car and searched him, taking his wallet and car keys. They then told him to go inside the house. Because the brother was expecting him, the gate and front door had been left unlocked.

They found six people inside the communal house, including his brother. The robbers searched everyone and took cellphones, a DStv decoder and TV set. They also managed to gather a total of R2 500 in cash from everyone in the house.

The robbers drove off with the man’s car and their own Polo. A case of house robbery is being investigated by the police.

Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications at Midrand Police Station said they were hoping to make arrests soon.
