Communications officer for the school Lynette Gray said in May this year, for the first time, the Beaulieu String Ensemble and Hillbrow Community Orchestra will record a CD together as part of Beaulieu Preparatory School’s 20th birthday celebration. The CD will be released in next year.
On 11 April, a Saturday morning orchestra workshop with the Hillbrow Community Music Centre was held at the school.
She said repertoire is usually decided on at the end of the previous year to allow both ensembles time to learn new notes.
“The workshop is an opportunity to participate in ensemble playing, socialise and establish friendships. A highlight of the day for the visitors from Hillbrow is the time they are able to spend in the school’s swimming pool with their friends,” said Gray.
