Designer hosts fashion show

MIDRAND - Designer Lesego Sakutu recently showed off her designs at the Protea Hotel.

The Halfway House resident owns Gorgeously Bold Boutique and said she is proud of her business that started off from home, and is growing fast.

Sakutu has been a designer for the past two years and describes herself as someone with a natural born talent for designing and making clothes. She said, “I have worked tirelessly on this winter collection and love it. Both men and women can enjoy a range of clothing which include amazing fake fur pieces.”

The boutique is moving to Maboneng on 1 May. “The reason for the fashion show was to create more awareness for the boutique and to give prospective clients a glimpse of the type of designs they can purchase from us.”

Models showcased leather and fur designs made by Sakutu for the audience during the show. The Sakutu collection includes leather, fur and African print with a touch of leather designs.

Sakutu’s advice for anyone who wants to be a designer is, “Have the love for clothes, be driven by the passion for designing and money will come after. If you design for money you may be disappointed if the public does not immediately fall in love with your designs.”
