Masterchef SA competition at Vorna Valley
VORNA VALLEY - A cook-off was judged by Masterchef SA Pete Goffe-Wood, hosted by Weber and OLX, at Vorna Valley Neighbourhood Market.
The competition is aimed at giving six amateur cooks a chance to show off their braaing and cooking skills.
Goffe-Wood congratulated the winner, an amateur cook, Stephen Waller, who walked away with a Weber gas braai worth R9 000. Waller beat five other contestants who had been chosen to cook on the day.
Asked how he started his cooking career, Goffe-Wood said, “I moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town years ago and had to learn to cook my own meals.”
The chef, with 30 years of cooking experience, judged the six amateur chefs’ cooking skills, speed at cooking and ability to season food perfectly.
Brand manager at OLX, Megan Lyons said the competition is an initiative by Weber and OLX. She added, “We are using the competition to create more publicity for OLX, and Weber came on board for the competition.”
Vorna Valley Neighbourhood Market spokesperson, Al Karaki said the competition was a wonderful idea to engage the community. He said, “We are delighted that OLX and Webber chose to bring the MasterChef competition to Vorna Valley.”
