
A security guard on duty at the gate of the business said he saw the 21-year-old man after investigating screams coming from the building. He reported the matter to Midrand police.
“The man said he heard the screams coming from the building at around 9am on 3 June,” said Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications at Midrand Police Station.

As he ran to the building, he saw a man running away and chased him down.
“The man was not alone,” said Tlamela.
“As the guard was restraining the one man, he noticed that an accomplice also came out of the building carrying two plastic bags.”

The man took an undisclosed amount of goods, however, the one bag that was recovered from the arrested suspect was filled with plugs and light bulbs.
“The police are under the impression that there were more than two suspects,” said Tlamela.
“We are investigating the matter and we hope to make more arrests soon.”
